umi – 海 (うみ) : a noun meaning ‘sea’ or ‘ocean’ in Japanese.
No matter where in the world I am, I am always drawn to coastlines. My mind always relaxes when met with an ocean or sea. I cannot explain where this tranquility comes from, nor why I have this connection. I can only try to explore this relationship by taking photographs whenever I sense that the ocean or sea in front of me has succeeded in freeing my mind from its trials and tribulations.
